There are just a few quick tips to make sure you feel at home while you travelling in Thailand and not to inadvertently offend anyone.

Be respectful of their religion, be modest, be ready to take your shoes off to go into temples for example. Avoid making jokes about the Thai royle family. Do not just watch your manners watch your feet – it is rude to put them up or point them at someone and be particularly respectful of the monks. If you are female be careful not to brush against their robes, even accidentally.

You can volunteer, do adventure travel or simply go backpacking and explore on a gap year.

Or on the way back – why not combine your trip with a visit to Cambodia or Vietnam while you are in Asia. Travelling around Asia is relatively cheap and easy once you have spent the money to fly all the way out there.
What to take with you to Thailand

To give you a rough idea of what to take with you when visit Thailand, you will need to think about the following:

Lightweight clothing – it is hot and sunny in a lot of places for most of the year so shorts and t-shirts will be the staple. Having said that, the north of the country gets a little chilly in the winter and you’d be wise to bring a couple of warm things. Flips flops or thongs are comfortable, cool and versatile. If you are going trekking in the jungle you’ll need some sturdy boots.

Waterproofs – just in case you are going to be there in the wet season.

Travel adapter – if you are taking electrical items with you like a hairdryer or phone charger to Thailand they do not use the same plugs so, you will need an adapter.

Sun block and mosquito repellent are both an absolute must!

Before you taking trips, whether it’s a longer trip by air or a short road trip around your country, don’t forget to do what I listing below. Here I share some travel tips before you do a traveling.

1. For road trips, I suggest you buy thee right maps and plan your route thoroughly. When you have a map, you can plan where to go first or not take a far way.

2. When traveling with your child, bring along recent photos of each one. If a child gets lost, the photo will help you to locate the child again.

3. Near security at an airport, don’t make a joke about bombs. If police inspected your luggage and arrest you, don’t be sad if your trips just stay in jail.

4. A trip to a theme park will suffer from a lack of careful planning. Get a list of all the rides and a map of the park, as well as opening and closing times, before setting off.

5. While cruises make planning easy with their all in include, taxes, surcharges and fees, tipping, shopping purchases, drinks, some shore excursions, etc.

6. The most obvious thing to check of the local weather where you are going. You don’t want to arrive in a tee shirt if it’s snowing.
